About Qur’ān

What is The Qur’ān ?

Like the Torah and the Injeel (the gospel revealed to Jesus), the Qur’ān (sometimes spelled Qur’ān Koran, Coran) is revelation from our Lord and Creator. The Qur’ān is the final revelation, revealed to Muhammad, the last Messenger, (ﷺ) in order to return people to the true monotheistic religion of all previous Prophets and Messengers. The Qur’ān is still preserved in its original, Arabic language and is free from error, addition or subtraction. The fundamental message from our Creator in the Qur’ān is the same as that revealed in the previous scriptures; to worship none but God, not to associate partners in worship with Him and to enjoin good and forbid evil. This message was confirmed and implemented by His appointed Prophets and Messengers.

“And who believe in (the Qur’ān and the Sunnah) which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad ﷺ) and in [the Turât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] which were sent down before you and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. (Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell, etc.).” [Qur’ān, 2:4]

About Islam

What is The Islam?

Islām is an Arabic word which means ‘surrender’. This means to accept the power of Allāh, and follow His Commands. Happiness in this life and success in the life after death can only be obtained by obeying Allāh. Islām is not just a religion, but a complete way of life. This means that it shows us how to live all aspects of our lives in the best possible way. There are five pillars on which Islām stands, they are:

  1. To firmly believe in the heart and declare “Laa ilaaha illAllāh, Muhammadur-Rasulullah” which means “there is no deity worthy to be worshiped but Allāh and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.”. This is what is meant by Iman (Belief)
  2. To pray five times a day (perform Salah).
  3. To pay Zakat (Charity)
  4. To fast during the month of Ramadan.
  5. To go on Hajj (pilgrimage) to Makkah once in a lifetime if one can afford it.

A person who accepts Islām is called a Muslim. It means ‘one who surrenders.’ A Muslim is required to do all that Allāh and His Messenger (ﷺ) have asked of them and to keep away from doing things which Allāh and His Messenger (ﷺ) have forbidden mankind not to do. Allāh and His Messenger (ﷺ) have told us to do good deeds, like being dutiful to our parents, helping others who are less fortunate and to be kind to animals. (Truly, the religion with Allāh, is Islām – Qur’ān, 3:19).

Important Note

Please keep in mind ANY translation (interpretation) of the Qur’ān will most definitely contain errors in its translation. In its natural language (Arabic), the Qur’ān is the direct Word of Allāh (God) to mankind through the prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Any translation of the Qur’ān no longer retains that ‘official’ and perfect status, however it can be tremendously helpful to students beginning and wanting to learn more about Islām. We would strongly encourage those that want to learn about Islām to obtain a hardcopy of the Qur’ān but with the following conditions:

  1. Get one with commentary (e.g Tafseer ibn Kathir)
  2. Make sure the commentary is scholarly (e.g. references to reasons behind a verse, references to Hadith and sunnah (prophet Muhammad’s teachings (ﷺ).

The term “Da’wah” originates from the Arabic language and represents an invitation or a call. Therefore, we invite all interested individuals to request a free copy of the Qur’an and gain a deeper understanding of the principles and beliefs of Islām.

We encourage individuals and the general public as a whole, to worship their Lord and Creator – the Almighty and Self-Sufficient Master, who created all that exists. We emphasize the importance of devoting oneself solely to Allāh and worshiping Him, the Lord of all the Prophets, including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, David, Solomon, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (May Allāh grant them all peace and security).”
